Understanding the Goals of the Course
Welcome to "Mastering the Early Years - Exclusive to Little Yogis Instructors"! In this course, our primary focus is to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to expertly guide young yogis through their formative years. By the end of this course, you will have a greater understanding of teaching yoga to little ones.
The Goals of this Course
This course is designed to help you have the tools and confidence to work with the littlest of yogis! You will gain clarity on the specific objectives that the course aims to achieve, including fostering children's physical flexibility, enhancing their cognitive development, promoting emotional well-being, and improving social interactions. The lesson highlights the significance of these goals in shaping the holistic growth and development of young children and prepares participants for the comprehensive journey ahead.
Key Lesson Concepts:
- Specific Objectives: This course will help you understand better how to teach yoga and mindfulness to very young children. It is important to know what their capabilities are and what is appropriate for them to learn due to their young minds and bodies.
- Fostering children's physical flexibility through age-appropriate yoga practices: The youngest children in this age category are still going to be crawling and may not be able to stand on their own. It is important to create lesson plans that encourage participation from all children, regardless of their movement ability. Think of adding clapping, singing and other activities that all children can participate in.
- Enhancing cognitive development through mindful movement and concentration exercises: Yoga poses are just a small part of what you will be teaching the children. Much of what is taught at this young age is not just through movement. Incorporating props will encourage mindfulness and breathing will encourage presence.
- Promoting emotional well-being through relaxation techniques and emotional awareness exercises: Using simple breathing, calming music and languaging will encourage the children to learn relaxing techniques. Showing them how breathing can help them calm is a skill they will develop and be able to come back to for a lifetime.
- Improving social interactions and building positive relationships among young yogis: Children this age are still learning how to be social, how to share, and how they fit into a group. Integrating activities that foster sharing, connecting and oneness will begin to create a community amongst the children.
Understanding the significance of these goals in shaping holistic growth and development: Always keep these goals in mind when creating your lesson plans. Know what you are trying to accomplish with the children so they can really connect with you and the activities that you bring each week.
Get ready for an exciting and comprehensive course that will not only empower you as an instructor but also contribute to the flourishing well-being of the little ones you'll be guiding on their yoga adventure.
What you are doing everyday in childcares is commendable!
